Position Summary
Reed Smith's Global Security team is responsible for safeguarding
the firm's people, property, and operations across all
international locations. This includes overseeing building
security, crisis response, employee and visitor safety, physical
and cyber security awareness, workplace violence prevention, fraud
investigations, executive protection, and compliance with fire and
life safety standards.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Global Security, the Security
Coordinator provides professional-level support to the physical
security function and collaborates closely with colleagues across
Security, Operations, and Information Technology. The Security
Coordinator plays a key role in monitoring and responding to
security events that may affect the firm's personnel, offices, or
business activities, both directly and indirectly.
Key responsibilities include supporting a comprehensive physical
security program that aligns with legal and regulatory
requirements, identifying and evaluating security risks, and
ensuring appropriate responses and reporting. The Security
Coordinator is also involved in maintaining anti-fraud measures and
access control systems across all firm offices. Assisting with
gathering incident details and responding to global requests for
security services.
This role requires a strong understanding of security principles,
access control technologies, and the complexities of operating in a
global legal environment. The Security Coordinator will work
proactively with the Senior Manager and firm leadership to
implement and maintain security standards and protocols across all
offices. Familiarity with region-specific risks, legal frameworks,
and cultural considerations is essential for supporting localized
security measures and risk mitigation strategies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor global security developments, gather intelligence from open
sources (including social media), and assess potential risks to
firm personnel, facilities, and operations.
Assist in identifying, reporting, and responding to physical
security threats, workplace violence concerns, internal/external
fraud attempts, and travel-related risks.
Track and document security incidents from intake through
resolution, including preparing detailed incident reports and
providing updates to relevant stakeholders.
Support the firm's crisis communication tools (e.g., Send Word Now)
and ensure accurate contact lists and readiness for emergency
communication.
Provide logistical and administrative support for the firm's
electronic security systems, including access control (C-CURE
9000), visitor management, and card access maintenance.
Monitor firmwide travel security operations; provide real-time
tracking, advice, and assistance to international travelers in
alignment with the firm's travel policies and global threat
environment.
Support the planning and coordination of on-site and off-site
security for firm events, including logistics and threat
assessments.
Collaborate with the Global Security team and Office Services to
maintain business continuity and emergency response readiness
across offices.
Assist in conducting basic physical security inspections and
assessments to help ensure compliance with firm policies and local
regulations.
Provide support in preparing internal security communications,
metrics reports, and presentations related to incidents, trends, or
risk awareness.
Maintain awareness of and communicate with appropriate law
enforcement or external partners under the guidance of the Senior
Manager of Global Security.
Help coordinate external vendors or consultants engaged in the
physical security or executive protection efforts of the firm.
Participate in ongoing training and assist in delivering basic
security awareness or emergency response education to firm
staff.
Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Senior
Manager of Global Security.

Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety,
Organizational Security, or related field; equivalent Military/Law
Enforcement and/or Security Operations experience preferred.
An advance degree is preferred in global security, intelligence or
related field. Additional professional certifications such as
Certified Fraud Examiner or training in the following areas
desired, global studies or security management.
Must be certified in CPR, first aid, etc. and maintain such
certification.
Experience:
4+ years in the security field with substantial experience dealing
with various types of security matters that may arise in an
international law firm setting. Experience in a professional
services, law enforcement or fire services considered a plus.
Experience with CCURE is considered a plus.
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with intermediate to
advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal and analytical abilities, with a demonstrated
capacity to build effective working relationships across all levels
of the organization.
Highly adaptable, able to perform effectively under pressure in a
fast-paced environment while consistently delivering accurate,
high-quality work within deadlines.
Demonstrates accountability, integrity, responsiveness, and a
strong sense of urgency in all aspects of work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability
to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
Solid understanding of physical security operations, including
access control systems, database management, and related
technologies.
Skilled in intelligence gathering, analysis, and reporting, with a
strong interest in geopolitical and global security issues.
Maintains a high level of personal integrity and discretion in
handling confidential and sensitive information.
Exceptional organizational, project management, and problem-solving
capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and
priorities simultaneously.

Equipment To Be Used: Personal computer and other office equipment

Essential Job Functions:
Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, intense eye
usage, and finger, hand and wrist dexterity associated with
prolonged computer use
Ability to utilize technology, including computers and
telecommunication devices.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with
various personalities at all levels.
Ability to work long days as required. Providing off-hours support
and coverage as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This may involve responding to critical incidents, performing
system maintenance, or assisting with project deadlines.
Must work in office as required.
Must be able to travel for meetings and training as required.
Working Conditions: You will be required to work in the office at
minimum 3 days per week. Occasionally called upon to work hours in
excess of your normal daily schedule. The details of your weekly
schedule will be discussed further with your direct supervisor.
Pay Ranges: This represents the presently-anticipated low and high
end of Reed Smith's pay range for this position. Actual pay may
vary based on various factors, including but not limited to
location and experience.
Denver, Houston & Dallas: $31.25 - $39.42 per hour
Chicago: $38.19 - $48.35 per hour
