ourselves.What is the role?We are seeking a highly experienced
Chief Space Systems Engineer to join our engineering team to
oversee complete satellite systems engineering lifecycles and
manage space mission projects from inception to delivery. The ideal
candidate will have extensive experience in satellite design,
systems engineering, and project management to ensure all mission
objectives are met on time to the highest quality standards.This
role is based in Denver, Colorado, where we are building a
high-performing and fast-paced team. The position will be primarily
on-site and in person at the office.Some of your daily tasks will
also include:Satellite Systems Engineering:
- Lead the development of satellite system architecture and
design, including payload, C&DH, AOCS, propulsion, power, and
communication systems.
- Define and manage system requirements and interfaces, ensuring
the integration of all subsystems.
- Conduct system-level trades, performance analysis, and design
optimization.
- Develop comprehensive system diagrams including wiring
diagrams.
- Oversee AI&T activities in a systems engineering role.
- Develop and execute systems engineering plans, including risk
management, schedule management, and resource allocation.
- Develop test plans, test procedures, assembly drawings, and
assembly instructions.
- Provide expert guidance on satellite systems engineering and
best practices across the entire design lifecycle (concept, design,
development, testing, and operations).Project Management:
- Lead and manage space mission projects, from initial concept
through launch and operational deployment.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource
plans.
- Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams,
including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, vendors,
and customers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring
that mission objectives are met and deliverables are completed on
schedule.
- Manage suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify, track, and mitigate project risks to ensure
successful mission execution.
- Prepare and present progress reports, technical documentation,
and mission status updates to senior leadership and clients.What do
we look for?
- 7+ years of experience in satellite systems engineering.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related
field.
- Strong proficiency of all satellite subsystems (propulsion,
power, payload, communications, etc.) and their integration.
- Experienced with full satellite lifecycles, including mission
design, AI&T, launch, and on-orbit operations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex space mission
projects, including schedule and project management.
- Excellent communication skills, both technical and
non-technical, with the ability to interface with all levels of
engineering teams and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally in the US and
internationally.
- Based in the Denver area or willing to relocate.
- US citizen or US permanent resident.How to Stand Out:
- Previous experience in project execution applying ECSS
standards.
- System modeling and simulation tools such as Matlab, Simulink,
and Python.
- Knowledge of cloud-based architectures.
- Knowledge of security architectures and standards applicable to
space systems.
- Knowledge of satellite onboard processing and image processing
and the potential use of AI algorithms for edge computing.What do

$150,000 - $210,000 per year. The state of Colorado requires
listing salary details. The salary will likely be within this range
although it may differ based on experience level or other
