Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Enabling Products Architecture IPT to join our team in Aurora, CO.

The Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Enabling Products Architecture IPT will be responsible for:

  • Architect software delivery pipeline environment; providing best practices and knowledge of DevOps and configuration Management tools
  • Identification of design decisions to provide consistent, reliable and timely software delivery mechanisms and processes
  • Assist in performing capacity planning analysis of compute and storage resources for a large system of systems deployed in multiple environments and at multiple geographic locations.
  • Knowledge of physical specifications (P-Spec) for virtual hosted environment based on capacity planning analysis as new capabilities are added to the system and old ones are retired.
  • Maintain records on infrastructure resource needs as capabilities are added or retired, and utilize them to impact program requests such as Requests For Change (RFCs), Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
    • Identification of process improvement areas, especially in relation to resource utilization and baseline management
    • This position is a direct report to the IPT ManagerThis requisition may be filled at a higher job grade based on the qualifications listed below.
      This requisition may be filled as either a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer.
      Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer:
      • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years with a Masters; 0 years with a PhD.
      • Understanding of DevOps principals and the function of associated tool suites within the development process
      • Understanding of agile methodology for a development project
      • Understanding of configuration management processes and tools
      • Knowledge of Hardware and virtual environments.
      • Demonstrated project execution skills with ability to work coordinate activities and meet deadlines
      • Strong planning and organization skills
      • Ability to function well in a dynamic environment and quickly adjust to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
      • Strong written and oral communication skills to work effectively with others and provide DevOps vision
      • Quick learner and self-starter
      • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and be willing to submit to a poly.Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
        • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years with a Masters; 3 years with a PhD.
        • Understanding of DevOps principals and the function of associated tool suites within the development process
        • Understanding of agile methodology for a development project
        • Understanding of configuration management processes and tools
        • Knowledge of Hardware and virtual environments.
        • Demonstrated project execution skills with ability to work coordinate activities and meet deadlines
        • Strong planning and organization skills
        • Ability to function well in a dynamic environment and quickly adjust to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
        • Strong written and oral communication skills to work effectively with others and provide DevOps vision
        • Quick learner and self-starter
        • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and be willing to submit to a poly.Preferred Qualifications:
          • Detail oriented
          • Self-starter
          • Strong problem solving skills and results oriented approach to work execution
          • Ability to identify system design and operational vulnerabilities, and make recommendations to address deficient areas
          • Experience on New Moon or legacy programs is a plus
          • Experience delivering operational mission systems
          • Experience with automated and/or on-site deployments Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD
            Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD

            Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
