Nature of Work

The Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position available at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This position will service the inpatient and outpatient medical care services, and resident training for Pediatric Surgery at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO), Denver Health, St. Joseph's Medical Center, as well as other local campuses and Colorado Springs. The candidate will be expected to provide indepenedent clinicacl services, supervise nurses in providing indepenedent clinical services for patients, and medically direct residents and fellows at the hospital. These duties will include clinic, inpatient, and outpatient surgeries at Children's Hospital Colorado.

The Assistant/Associate Professor will participate in the Division of Pediatric Surgery's Network of Care, which includes coverage responsibilities at our North Campus, South Campus, Denver Health, St. Joseph's, and Colorado Springs. The position will be primarily based at the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO)'s Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ambulatory; new patient consults and follow ups
  • Inpatient rounds and consults
  • Operative care of a broad spectrum of Pediatric surgical conditions including congenital anomalies, trauma and acute care surgery, with a focus on hepatobiliary and surgical oncology
  • Call coverage shared within group
  • Contributing to clinical research and training of residents and fellows
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Salary and Benefits:

Assistant Professor:

The total compensation range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $375,000 to $425,000.

Associate Professor:

The total compensation range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $425,000 to $500,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.   • Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine

  • Board certified in general surgery
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Surgery
  • Ability to communicate clearly as an integral member of a team
  • Eligible to obtain a license to practice as a physician with prescriptive privileges in the State of Colorado

Associate Professor

  • Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Board certified in general surgery
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Surgery
  • Ability to communicate clearly as an integral member of a team
  • Eligible to obtain a license to practice as a physician with prescriptive privileges in the State of Colorado
