The Rocky Mountain Regional VAMC is recruiting for a highly qualified Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist for Imaging Service located in Aurora, CO. The incumbent works under the general direction of the Chief Technologist and the Chief, Imaging Service. [ "The Assistant Chief Technologist is responsible for and is given the authority to ensure the effective daily operation of the Imaging Service and functions as the Mammography Program Manager (MPM) across the ECHCS organization. The MPM will inform, advice, and make recommendation to the healthcare system leadership of all concerns that impact the delivery of mammography services.; management of resources; financial requirement to set aside budgets for operational needs and procurement; create and submit acquisition package for breast equipment and contracts; review and implement new, modified, or unfamiliar rules and regulations; draft guides, local policies, and notes significant changes to the standard operating procedures and quality management program. Duties to include but are not limited to: The incumbent must possess comprehensive knowledge of certification and accreditation as set forth by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), American College of Radiology (ACR), VHA, National Radiology Program Office, and other regulating bodies and compliance pertinent to successful operational requirements of the mammography program. Plans and directs Imaging activities, personnel, the use of equipment and ensures adequate supplies to meet the needs of the service. The Assistant Chief Technologist will assume the duties of the Chief Technologist when he/she is not available. Maintains supervisory responsibilities for the mammography technologists; other Imaging Technologists; and Program Support Assistants as assigned to ensure patient care and administrative requirements to support the Imaging Service and Mammography Program needs. Possesses responsibility for coordination and performance of the mammography program. Ensures proper program development and management, all mammography quality assurance, the completion and maintenance of accreditation and certification requirements of staff and mammography equipment. Ensures orders management and proper tracking with followup of internal breast exams and procedures; utilizes information to make changes in the service. Prior knowledge of the Mammography Reporting System software is desired. Performs screening and diagnostic mammography exams and assists with procedures as needed and to maintain qualifications. Ensures all mammography staff and equipment are properly vetted, qualified, and credentialed. Serves as an Alternate EIL Custodial Officer to the Service Chief. Serves as the designated Contracting Officer Representative (COR) as assigned. Provides advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both clinical and administrative matters. Possess the ability to write and present training in a formal environment. Possess expertise in use of the Radiology Package of the hospital information system (VistA) and have a working knowledge of the hospital Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS), AGFA IMPAX. Responsible for ensuring smooth technical operations of the service and helps establish performance standards for the Imaging Service staff. Monitors the workflow throughout the department, has direct oversight of the processes for orders management and imaging examination and procedure turnaround-times. Ensures adequate shift coverage within the sections. Coordinates inpatient and outpatient flow through the Imaging Service by efficient assignment of work responsibilities and proper utilization of staff and radiographic equipment. Establishes short term goals for the service and participates in staffing and budget formulation. Participates in the radiology resident and student educational programs within the department as directed. Facilitates the attainment of established program objectives.
