Overview The Admission Specialist supports the university's mission by conducting a thorough and timely review of all incoming and returning student applications and rendering an admittance decision. The Admission Specialist is responsible for collecting and processing official and unofficial transcripts, processing any relevant student application materials, and enrolling the student into the university. This individual must possess the ability to thrive in an extremely dynamic work environment while consistently applying critical thinking and professional judgment while serving a diverse student population. This position will report directly to the Supervisor of Admission Services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews and evaluates new and returning student applications to determine admissibility for certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs based on University policies and processes. Reviews and renders admissions decisions for students. Ensures all documents related to admissions process are managed, maintained, and on file in accordance with departmental deadlines and procedures. This includes: document management, transcript processing, and other admissions processes. Conduct or facilitate program specific eligibility reviews to determine eligibility into graduate programs. Collaborates with faculty as needed. Identify provisional students accurately for the Admissions Committee. Participate in a weekly review of Admission Committee student decisions. Assist with managing the department inbox. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong Verbal and Written Communication Communicating effectively in writing or verbally to convey information effectively and meet the needs of the appropriate audience. Attention to Detail - Strong ability to achieve accuracy when accomplishing a task at a high volume. Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work. Time Management - Managing one's own time. Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Database User Interface - Comfortability using technology and is adaptable to quickly learning new software. Teamwork - Ability to work well with others. This includes ability to communicate, actively listen and being accountable to own actions.Computer Skills: Enter data into computer using software applications for data entry and word processing. Proficient with e-mail and cloud-based document systems (e.g., Google & Microsoft applications). Proficient with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the individual to be available to come on-campus up to twice per week in our location in Aurora, Colorado. Other scheduled days are fully remote. This schedule could change depending on the needs of the University. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms. Ability to spend long durations of the workday in front of a computer monitor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university required. Have at least 2 years of professional work experience. Higher education experience and knowledge of FERPA preferred. Prior experience using Salesforce or similar CRM, Campus Nexus or similar CNS, and TES College Source are preferred, not required.
