Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Bone
Marrow Transplant (BMT) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per
Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience
in hematology oncology/BMT required. Chemotherapy certification
required. License: Current RN license required. Certifications: AHA
BLS certification required. ONS/ONCC certification preferred.
Must-Have: Ability to provide care and management for patients with
blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular
therapies. Experience with acute tumor lysis syndrome,
administration of blood and blood products, and chemotherapy.
Familiarity with central line care, patient monitoring, and
management of chemotherapy side effects. Description: The
Registered Nurse in the Bone Marrow Transplant specialty will care
for patients with blood cancers. This role involves administering
chemotherapy and managing various conditions related to hematology.
Nursing staff will be responsible for monitoring patients and
recognizing abnormal lab values. The nurse will assist with
procedures such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy. A
commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to work as part
of an interdisciplinary team is essential. The position requires
willingness to float between similar units as needed to meet
patient care requirements. Weekend coverage is necessary based on
unit needs. The nurse will maintain a patient ratio of 3-4 patients
per nurse during night shifts. The unit currently has 36 beds and
will soon expand to 51 beds. Strict adherence to safety protocols
and best practices is expected.
