Job Overview
Under the supervision and direction of a licensed pharmacist and
following established policies and procedures, performs a variety
of technical and clinical procedures to support hospital pharmacy
operations.We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, highly
organized, team-oriented person to join our Pharmacy Team here at
Children's Hospital Colorado. The Pharmacy Intern will process and
fill prescriptions, compound medications, assist with
administrative functions, documentation and undertaking other tasks
at the direction of the pharmacist all the while providing

Additional Information
Department: HP Retail Specialty PharmacyHours per week: PRN (as
needed)Shift: Varies between 4-8 hours, rotating days. No weekends
or holidays. This position pays $21.00/hour.
Qualifications
Education: Actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy.
Licensure(s): Pharmacist Intern from the Colorado State Board of
Pharmacy within 60 days of eligibility.

Adult - > 18yrs to 65yrsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all
the following essential functions. These examples do not include
all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.1.
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, may complete the
following: a. Provides drug information services by responding to
questions regarding medication compatibilities, adverse drug
events, dosing, regimens, storage and disposal, compounding, and
pharmaceutical supplies in a timely manner; using a systematic
approach to effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the
literature and appropriately communicating and applying the
information to the patient care situation.
b. Participates in emergency response; provides patient education,
guidance of medication related therapeutic issues; documents
pharmaceutical interventions according to departmental standards;
and performs therapeutic drug monitoring.
c. Assures that patient medication needs are being met through
multidisciplinary communications and bedside rounding.2. Sustains
and implements quality and safety initiatives and practices in the
department and throughout the hospital. Reports adverse drug events
and medication variances using the hospital variance reporting
program (QSRS). 3. Accurately and safely selects and prepares
medications for dispensing, and delivers patient medication as
directed by a licensed pharmacist. 4. Performs non-sterile
compounding and packaging including nonhazardous and hazardous
drugs.5. Answers telephone calls and triages appropriately.6.
Performs inspections for medication outdates. 7. Assures medication
needs for patient care are met through inventory management,
maintenance of work areas and equipment, stocking Omnicell's,
receiving and stocking medications and supplies throughout the
pharmacy areas.8. Maintains environmental cleanliness in accordance
with regulatory and policy requirements.9. Fills requests for
controlled substances and accurately maintains all required
records.10. Enters patient charges.11. Teaches, trains and/or
mentors' new employees, students and other healthcare professionals
according to standard operating procedures. 12. Maintains daily
workflow to meet established priorities and production
requirements. 13. Documents activities according to hospital and
department policy, and in accordance with regulatory
requirements.14. Performs sterile compounding which may include
chemotherapy.15. Sustain, maintain, and look for ways to improve
the medication barcoding system.

Salary InformationAnnual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per
week): $40,281.66 to $60,422.48
Hourly Salary Range: $19.37 to $29.05
