Procedural RN- OBGYN, Central Park position. Position Purpose
Provides direct patient care in a procedural setting at a
proficient level, in accordance with applicable scope and standards
of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the
organization. Monitors and manages the patient in the procedural
environment before, during and after procedures to maintain a safe
environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
Examples of Work Performed Plans, implements, and evaluates patient
care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and
maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates
patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across
disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer,
discharge, referral and attend to all age-related physical,
spiritual, and psychosocial needs. Evaluates learning needs of
patient and/or family and provides patient/family education
appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May
precept student nurses and new hires. Performs circulating
functions before procedures, including preparing the procedural
environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing
patient's medical record and surgeon's notes to ensure all
prerequisites and preferences are met. Ensures safety checklists
and procedures are implemented and documented at all times.
Performs circulating functions during procedures, including
monitoring and communicating patient condition, documenting
interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field and
controlling traffic into, out of and around the room. Performs
scrub functions as needed, including the preparation, selection,
and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical
procedure and performs equipment counts with colleagues. Provides
nursing care to a complex, moderate acuity procedural patient
population in a technically complex environment. Within scope of
job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the
ability to work with minimal supervision. Serves as a champion for
patient safety. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
(CDPHE, CMS, OSHA, etc.). Ensures compliance with all infection
control standards. Participates in CU Quality Improvement (QI)
initiatives and metrics. Participates in practice's process and
performance improvement activities and initiatives. Ensures that
the service expectations of both internal and external customers
are met and/or exceeded. Must be able to recognize and respond
appropriately to urgent/emergent situations according to protocols.
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for all Medical
Assistant and clinical area practices. Includes reception,
registration and front-end practices while providing
cross-coverage. Demonstrates excellence in customer service and
satisfaction levels for internal and external customers; this
includes regular review of patient survey information, responding
to patient or provider concerns, and efficient resolution of RL
events. Adheres to employer work practices, policies and
procedures, including office and state protocols. Establishes and
maintains effective working relationships with leadership,
physicians, and colleagues, addresses concerns in a forthright
manner. Focuses self and others on achieving quality and financial
outcomes in a responsive timely manner. Provides vision and
planning to meet goals; welcomes innovation and new approaches to

Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through an
accredited nursing program through Accreditation Commission for
Education in Nursing (ACEN) or American Nursing Credentialing
Center (ANCC). At least three years of nursing experience.
Registered Nurse (RN), State of Colorado. Current Advanced Cardiac
Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or
American Red Cross. Substitution: A combination of education and
related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted
for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must
meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Conditions of
Employment Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare
Providers issued by American Heart Association or American Red
Cross healthcare provider level CPR certification. Complies with
applicable University of Colorado School of Medicine, Community
Practice mandatory education and training. Maintains all required
licensure and certifications for position. Maintains all required
continuing education requirements. Must be able to work in-person.
Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications Vascular nursing experience. 3 years of
job-related/clinic experience. Bilingual, Spanish-speaking.
Moderate sedation experience. Nursing certification (ANCC) in
specialty area. Basic keyboarding skills. Experience working with
MS Office. Experience working with EPIC. Experience working with
Kronos. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to effectively
communicate at all levels, to include physicians, leadership, and
staff within the various affiliate organizations (UCH, Children's
Colorado, CU Medicine, CU SOM). Ability to work within large,
complex healthcare systems. Ability to analyze and interpret data .
