RequirementsPharmacy TechnicianThe pharmacy technician is a
dependable team member responsible for processing and filling
prescriptions sent by veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and
receptionists. This role will undertake other tasks under the
direction of the Hospital Managers to provide excellent customer
service and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. The pharmacy
technician must be detail-oriented and possess excellent
communication skills. Job Requirements/ Skills/ Physical Demands An
employee in this position must have a sense of caring for animals,
detail-oriented, responsible, be able to lift approximately 50
pounds, and walk dogs of up to 130 pounds. Essential Functions
Fills Prescriptions: ---Processes prescriptions from in house DVMs.
Properly measures medications and label containers. ---Fills
prescription requests from clients via phone. ---Call in
prescriptions to be filled in human pharmacy ---Can correctly
identify drugs and understand basic units of measure ---Handles
third party pharmacy requests ---Comply with security, privacy, and
quality standards Inventory: ---Knows were hospital supplies and
drugs are kept. At times will receive and verify shipments and
properly stock shelves. ---Will identify low stock items and record
them on order list ---Attends and participates in quarterly
inventory counts Customer Service: ---Professional and
compassionate, providing a high level of communication to all
clients. Effective written and oral communication. ---Must be able
to work independently and have good problem-solving skills to
handle stressful and at times emotional situations ---Helps
maintain clean and orderly hospital and pharmacy Patient Care
---Provides compassionate care to all animals ---Assists veterinary

prepared, and in uniform at the start of each shift. Each shift
will end timely and after completion of any closing duties.
---Attend all staff meetings and department meetings ---Answer
phones as neededSkills and Basic Qualifications ---Excellent
communication skills and the ability to work effectively and
efficiently in a fast paced environment. ---Ability to effectively
handle and control aggressive animals. ---Must be able to handle
the physical and emotional aspect of work in a veterinary clinic
environment, including the use of euthanasia. ---Models a
professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
