Job Description:
*$10,000 sign on bonus to those who qualify*Summary:Assists with
management and clinical responsibilities of Perioperative Services
to support patient care. Coordinates surgical procedures in
specialty areas, in collaboration with physicians and other health
care disciplines. Performs circulating and scrub roles based on the
specialty service line needs.Work Schedule: Full Time DaysPreferred
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OR supply and instrument utilization. OR
background strongly preferred.
- Build strong effective communication with surgeons and service
specialists regarding preference cards.
- Work closely with supply chain to perform global substitutions
for supplies that have gone inactive, been replaced or not ordered
in 2+ years.
- Collaborate with SPD to change names of sets, remove sets from
preference cards or make edits to sets.
- Identify EPIC issues or process improvements to make preference
cards efficient for all end users.
- Run Committee meetings to optimize preference cards, identify
broken processes and create process improvements.
- Escalate stagnant and/or indecisive workflows to the board for
final decision making
- Strong communication with counterpart regarding cost reduction
strategies and preference card
optimization..Responsibilities:Serves as clinical expert in the
delivery of patient care; is a role model and clinical resource for
specialty area. Assists in managing specialty cases. Recommends
improvements for delivery of services. Serves as a resource and
intervenes in complex patient and family situations. Communicates
decisions or changes to staff. Evaluates nursing service goals and
initiatives. Documents care provided per established guidelines.
Collaborates with staff and physicians to update preference cards.
Conducts inventory of specialty supplies. Communicates with
scheduling regarding future surgeries. Facilitates resolution of
daily operational issues in collaboration with the charge nurse.
Ensures the availability of instruments, supplies and equipment.
Provides input for performance evaluations. Provides verbal
coaching to staff for in the moment teaching and informs department
leadership of concerns. Assists with instrumentation and capital
expenditure budget. Evaluates specialty equipment. Collaborates
with Charge Nurse for staff assignments to support skill growth for
RN's and ST's. Monitors shelf life of all specialty related goods
and supplies; eliminates redundancy and non-used items. Facilitates
development of specialty team members and provides in-service
programs for staff. Supports and assists with orientation,
education, competencies, and professional development in
collaboration with the Educator. Promotes compliance with AORN
Recommended Practices.Within scope of job, requires critical
thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with
minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced
environment and take appropriate action.Requirements:
- Credentials:* Registered Nurse* Basic Life Support
- Other information:Minimum Required Education: BSN.Required
Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse
(RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Preferred:
Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR).Minimum Experience: 2 years
of experience in any perioperative setting.
- IF APPLICABLE: BLS through the American Heart Association or
the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card
in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through
sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be
issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red
Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the
Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will
need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned

position is: $36.47 - $56.52 / hour. Pay is dependent on
applicant's relevant experience.An annual bonus may be paid to
