Summary:
Provides direct patient care to high acuity, critically ill progressive care patients requiring close monitoring and care management, utilizing critical thinking and the resources necessary to provide quality patient care in accordance with Standards of Excellence and Mission, Vision, and Values set forth by UCHealth and the University of Colorado Hospital.

Job Duties:
The Medical-Surgical Progressive Care Unit is part of the Critical Care Division here at the University of Colorado Hospital. This unit serves a diverse patient population with systemic imbalances including, but not limited to: pulmonary, cardiac, electrolyte instabilities, sepsis, and surgical.

• Assessment, evaluation, and implementation of patient needs, education, and care plans based on their condition and diagnosis
• Continuous heart, pulse, and oxygen monitoring
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, including, primary service teams, case management, social work, palliative care, and the therapies (physical, occupational, speech).Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • 6 months nursing experience.
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • ACLS
  • BLS Preferred
    • Med/Surg, Tele or PCU experience
    • Familiarity with IV drips (heparin, insulin, cardiac gtts)
    • Ability to interpret EKGs is encouraged
    • Ability to work autonomously but also within a team environment
    • Personal responsibility and development of individual nursing practice
