community offers a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Assisted

you. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides basic nursing
care to residents within the scope of nursing assistant
responsibilities and performs basic nursing procedures under the
direction of a licensed nurse. Provides assistant in resident's
daily activities, providing bedside care, meeting the resident's
emotional and psycho-social needs, responding to resident call
lights and requests for assistance, and taking resident vital
signs. Provides environmental support through assistance with light
housekeeping, laundry and meal service for the households. Shifts
available: Full time - 8:30am - 2:30pm shift time The Essentials:
What does a CNA do? * Performs nursing assistant duties such as
intake and output, measuring height and weight, vital signs,
specimen collection, catheter care, range of motion exercises, etc.
* Documents residents' information accurately and daily on the
appropriate forms (i.e. intake and output forms (if ordered), vital
sign sheets, and B.M. record, etc.) * Provides all personal care
for residents, including bathing, showering, shampooing, oral
hygiene, skin care, hair care, nail care, dressing, shaving,
toileting, transferring, turning and positioning, ambulating, and
transporting * Recognizes changes in the residents' behavior and
conditions, and cares for their environment * Participates in and
supports resident activity programs * Assists residents with
nutritional needs, including serving, feeding, providing proper
fluid requirements, and offering substitutions when appropriate.
Monitors food and fluid intake and offers/provides snacks and
fluids between meals * Encourages residents to develop and maintain
independence and highest level of functioning in all personal care
* Cares for the dying resident * Adheres to strict infection
control guidelines including hand washing and universal precautions
* Reports any and all exposures to infection in accordance with
OSHA and Balfour Retirement Community guidelines, policies, and
procedures * Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner
(i.e. placing residents' call light within easy reach, applying
physician ordered restraints (i.e. tabs alarm, lap buddy, etc.) *
Demonstrates awareness of potential hazards and reports unsafe
conditions to appropriate community staff to maintain a safe
environment for residents, families, and staff (i.e. reports
spills, faulty equipment, maintains a clear path for resident
ambulation, uses wheelchair locks appropriately, etc.) * Observes
and reports residents' condition changes to the care manager
immediately and exchanges resident information with the care
manager on an ongoing basis * Consistently responsive to residents'
needs; responds to any and all call lights and acknowledges
residents' and families' concerns and initiates action * Provides
privacy and maintain confidentiality and ensures the residents'
right to make personal choices * Attends in-service education
programs mandated by Balfour, state, and federal guidelines
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS: * State certification
and graduation from a state approved nursing assistant training
program required * Knowledge and experience in bedside nursing *
Effective verbal and written communication skills required * Able
to work collaboratively with other nursing staff * Ability to read,
speak, and understand the English language * Ability to read
thermometers, charts, and testing equipment PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: * Ability to stand, walk, bend,
and squat for prolonged periods, and repetitively * Ability to push
and pull objects and lift and carry up to 30-55 pounds, unassisted
(based on facility location) * Full use of hands, arms, and legs
(i.e. washing, feeding, and dressing residents, writing notations,
operating bed wheel locks, etc.) * Willing to work beyond normal
working hours and weekends, as well as holidays * Ability to
multitask, and work unsupervised in daily tasks and work in rapid
environment * Is subject to frequent interruptions * May be exposed
to unpleasant odors, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens
