A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Configuration and Documentation Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering change process and supporting tools for the Global Solar team. This critical position in the organization ensures best engineering practices are followed globally while promoting consistency in engineering documentation including manuals, bill of materials, prints, and specifications.
Essential Functions:



  • Responsible for Product Life Management (PLM) coordination and administration


  • Responsible for training global teams on procedures and best practices related to engineering implementations


  • Responsible for working with users and teams to identify process waste and provide innovative solutions to meet the business needs


  • Give guidance to global team of design technicians and drafters to ensure consistency and high standard of work


  • Review and edit various types of engineering documentation including user manuals, installation manuals, design guides, and specification to ensure consistency globally


  • Act as the change facilitator to consult on larger development projects and ensure a successful launch


  • Ensure all system tools are being properly utilized to prompt appropriate responses to changes such as to build, purchase or disposition


  • Represent Engineering on large sales projects to ensure accurate outcome through all phases of the project execution


  • Perform as a representative to the business interests in the ERP system


  • Train and advise on ERP system best practices and liaise with engineering and operations, Advise on future ERP system development and deployment projects


  • Advise on global sales order configuration and e-commerce systems


  • Drive advancement of content delivery to improve access and efficiency


    Additional Details Regarding the Role:


    • Reports to the Director of Technology Product Development and has no direct reports


    • Potential to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%


      Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):


      • Bachelors with 2+ years relevant experience in Product Development, Product Management, or Engineering


      • Strong in-depth knowledge of engineering product development processes


      • Excellent understanding of computer technology as it applied to business processes


      • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Access


        Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications


        • Bachelors with 5+ years relevant experience is preferred


        • Project Management or Organizational Change Management certification or experience


        • Bi-lingual (Italian or Portuguese) desirable


        • Experience with Windchill a plus


        • Experience with SAP a plus


          Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
          Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Travel domestically up to 25% and internationally up to 10% of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Minimum base salary is $75,190 and max is $117,484.
