Summary of Job Duties The approved hiring pay for this position

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Ability to work at least one
weekend day in weekly schedule.
* Takes pride and ownership in daily upkeep and care of public
facilities and amenities at Aurora Reservoir.
* Provide outstanding stewardship of Aurora's natural resources and
assist the Parks, Recreation & Open Space (PROS) Department in
fulfilling its Mission of: Encouraging active lifestyles and
creating healthy environments for people, nature and community
* Engage with volunteers and lead boots on the ground stewardship
projects
* Assists in planning and implementation of routine maintenance and
specialized maintenance and site/facility improvement programs for
Open Space and Natural Resources Division with emphasis on natural
areas, specialty sites, trail systems and reservoir related
properties along with undeveloped public lands and streetscapes
* Utilizes, adjusts, and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment
common to the functions required
* Performs facility maintenance duties, such as basic plumbing,
including janitorial cleaning, on a routine basis
* Performs landscaping and grounds maintenance duties, such as
mowing and trimming on a routine basis.
* Performs maintenance and repairs on sites and facilities;
performs tasks related to event coordination; performs snow/ice
removal and sanding according to City standards
* Assists in coordinating work schedules, training and mentoring of
maintenance workers, temporary and seasonal workers, volunteers,
and alternative service workers
* Handles complaints and concerns from citizens
* Performs additional duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: * High School Diploma or GED. Experience: * At least 3
years directly related maintenance experience. An equivalent
combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates
required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge:Knowledge of mechanical equipment and maintenance tools,
maintenance and construction activities; basic understanding of
natural area restoration processes; Integrated Pest Management
strategies; basic understanding of conservation ethics; logistics
related to volunteer projects and special events; locations to be
maintained; effect of weather conditions on maintenance needs and
procedures; policies and procedures for record keeping; snow/ice
removal procedures; knowledge of first aid. Abilities:Ability to
work independently and be self-motivated; establish and maintain
effective working relationships with employees; communicate
effectively both orally and in writing; monitor activities of
others; follow planning and organizational guidelines; recognize
problems or hazards of equipment, buildings, and specific
environments; handle complaints and concerns of citizens with tact
and diplomacy; and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Skills:Skill in performing tool and equipment maintenance
activities; adjusting equipment appropriately; using supplies
safely and efficiently; transporting and operating equipment
safely. Licenses, Certificates, and/or Equipment Required: *
Driver's License with a good driving record
* Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6
months of hire.
* Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification. This position may
require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g.
vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their
employment. WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Demands: * Moderate to
heavy physical work depending upon assigned function; may require
ability to lift a maximum of 80 pounds with assistance; may lift
and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without
assistance; considerable walking and standing; frequent performance
of activities requiring a full range of body movement including
bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing; hand/eye and
hand/foot coordination for operation of tools, equipment, and
vehicles; vision to read manuals, record data, and monitor/observe
instruments and gauges; hearing/listening for troubleshooting and
warning signals; and speech communication to provide technical
information and to communicate with employees and citizens. Work
Environment: * Works both indoors and outdoors with exposure to all
weather conditions, noise, fumes, and chemicals; work may be
performed in a confined space; handles a variety of chemicals,
fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, and concrete and building materials
common to maintenance and construction. Equipment Used: * Operates
a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles common to maintenance
and construction a vacancies.
