Job Summary:

We're on the hunt for a passionate Group Exercise Aqua Instructors
to elevate our water-based fitness programs.
The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center has over 40 group
exercise classes every week. This position leads the class they are
hired to be responsible for music, choreography, and any need
certifications to lead the class. Current class schedule is at for
examples of classes held.
The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (CU AHWC) is a wellness
hub on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. We are
home to a state-of-the-art fitness center, the CU Wellness Clinic,
and transformative research studies and programs. Our
multi-disciplinary team of world-class trainers and top researchers
work side by side with clinicians and coaches to develop and
deliver programs and services that provide whole-person wellness
support and guidance.
The current operating hours of the Center are:
Monday through Thursday: 5 am to 10 pm
Fridays: 5 am to 9 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 7 am to 5 pm
Shifts will fall during these hours, depending on operational
needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct clientele in aqua fitness classes in a dependable and
consistent manner.
Follow procedures set by Group Exercise Coordinator for management
of the classes for check-in, attendance, equipment, cleaning
etc.
Provides intensity options and educates participants on how to
choose movements appropriate for their fitness level.
Teaches schedules classes, beginning and ending on time; provides
adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down
Instructors participants on effective workout methods; explains
proper techniques, demonstrates exercise, identifies different
muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen
specific muscles.
Prepares appropriate equipment and music for each class.
Keeps management informed of participant and facility needs.
Demonstrates a greater understanding of AHWC program opportunities
and share information with customers as needed.
Work closely with Group Fitness Manager.
Conduct themselves in a reliable manner in all aspects of the
job.
Exhibit creativity not only within the position, but within the
entire Fitness & Wellness program.
Provides exceptional customer service.
Initiates emergency response procedures when required.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at
12348 E. Montview Blvd, Aurora, CO 80045.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
One (1) year of experience working in fitness instruction,
aquatics, wellness, recreation, lifeguarding/swim instruction, or
other directly related field.
A nationally recognized certification in Aqua Fitness Instruction
may substitute for the experience on a month-for-month basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Qualified to teach a variety of Center offerings and substitute for
other instructors as needed.
For classes requiring additional certifications: proof of
certification (e.g., Pilates, BODYPUMP).
Conditions of Employment:
Current CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification at date of hire.
Sit and stand for long periods of time, frequently walk, and
bend/stoop, as well as execute repetitive motions.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
Work in an environment that may expose you to fumes, chemicals,
blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
Participate in an audition as part of the interview process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to instruct in a variety of aqua class styles (e.g.,
Gentle, HIIT, etc.).
Ability to lead classes in a positive/enthusiastic manner to a
variety of members, offering modifications/options to members as
requested.
Ability to instruct classes effectively using both verbal and
physical cues.
Ability to operate exercise studio audio equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to present classes in an organized and professional manner,
while catering to participants of all fitness levels.
Knowledge and expertise in format.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with employees at all levels.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Energetic, pro-active, and service-driven, exhibiting a balance of
initiative and team orientation.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity and
inclusion.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting hourly range (or hiring range) for this part-time
(0.15 FTE) position has been established as $19.72 - $24.45.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the
University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of
possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be
eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
