Job Summary:
The Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at
the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a part-time (0.5
FTE) staff position available for a Quality Improvement and Data
Analyst role.
This position will serve as the data analyst for the International
Center for Colorectal and Urogenital Care at Children's Hospital
Colorado. This position will primarily maintain the Colorectal
database, conduct data analysis and develop data reports and
dashboards.
Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion,
analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a
wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial
and student services functions. Work involves creating,
integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a
professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert
level. Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or
are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with UCHealth providers, staff, faculty, as well as
other teams, institutions and resources to design, develop,
implement and support quality improvement initiatives.
Collaboration with faculty, RN's, administrative staff, as well as
other teams within CHCO to design, develop, implement and support
QI initiatives.
Participation in research projects for the International Center for
Colorectal & Urogenital Care at CHCO. Work directly with the
Principal Investigator to gather data requirements, use the
colorectal database to query the specific subset of patients, and
implement chart reviews.
Work with staff to develop and manage timelines, project plans and
budgets, metrics reporting and development of project design and
protocols
Extract, validate, analyze and report on data from a variety of
systems (e.g. Epic) and data sources
Ensure accurate progress of data analytic projects from the
planning and approval stages through completion and reporting
Drive transformation of care delivery systems and support client
service lines in achieving tactical and strategic goals by
providing clinical and leadership teams operational data to support
improvement initiatives. Results will assist in improved access,
staff efficiency, quality outcomes, safety, and patient
satisfaction.
Perform data analysis, using appropriate data collection
instruments, data interpretation procedures and analytical
methodologies and present analytical insights to substantiate
recommendations for both strategic and tactical improvements
through reports and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, PowerPivot,
Excel)
Manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Participate with and contribute to development of strategy and
tactics for the Department of Surgery with Office of Quality
Leadership team.
Ad hoc reporting as requested
Other duties as assigned
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per
week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree preferably in business, business
administration, computer science, management/computer systems,
computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related
field from an accredited institution
Three years of experience working in a related field such as
Business Intelligence, Data Analysis or Quality Improvement
analysis.
Substitution: A combination of education and related
technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the
bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree in computer science, public health, epidemiology,
biostatistics, engineering, mathematics, or related field from an
accredited College.
Extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience with
data warehouse design and data mining.
Experience working with Epic (EPIC Compass, Clarity, Caboodle) in
analysis of data.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Ability to make decisions using best judgement and discretion;
involving key stakeholders when necessary
Outstanding customer service skills.
Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity
and inclusion.
Knowledge of data analysis techniques, statistics and statistical
software.
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of SQL.
Familiarity with data warehouse design and data mining and in-depth
understanding of database management systems and online analytical
processing.
Ability to extract data from complex clinical and administrative
databases and manipulate large datasets using SQL, SAS, SPSS or
other application specific query tools.
Experience with reporting software including Microsoft Access,
Excel, Crystal Reports, PowerBI and/or Microsoft SSRS.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has
