Engineer in support of requirements, design, analysis, test and
operation of ground systems for commercial, DoD and NASA
customers.The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic
Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational
leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact

Do:
- Lead design, development, integration and testing of ground
systems.
- Apply extensive technical expertise, and knowledge of ground
systems.
- Expertise in core systems engineering skills, contribute to
effective producibility of designs, and to cost, budget, and
schedule constraints over program lifecycle.
- Guide the successful completion of ground programs and function
in a project leadership role meeting cost, schedule, and
performance goals.
- Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercise
considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of
assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term
perspective, for desired results.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require
the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Interface effectively with people at all levels and from
diverse areas, seek out responsibilities and opportunities to
contribute, regularly meet with customers, provide leadership to
groups and teams and guidance to less experienced employees.
- Support the development of ground segment system engineering
architecture/design.
- Perform requirements decomposition, use case development, and
trace artifacts to architecture constructs.
- Support requirements decomposition activities which includes
the establishment of verification attributes (Verification Test
method, level, approach, success criteria, and Test
Requirements).
- Oversee and guide the management of ground segment requirements
- allocation, verification, and validation.
- Support Interface definition development and documentation in
the form of ICD.
- Analyze and implement key program interface documents by
tracing to ground requirements and design.
- Lead trade studies, performance analyses, risk and opportunity
assessments.
- Prepare and give presentations to
peers/management/customers.
- Support program gates as defined by customer, such as the
System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR)
and Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within
the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic
Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with
others in order to maintain a positive and productive work
environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.On-Site Work Environment:
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work
location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and
other possible non-company locations may be required.Working
Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor,
or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of
protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather
conditions.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field
is required plus 12 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may
substitute for two years of experience. Related technical
experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be
from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an
agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department
of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- In depth knowledge of related disciplines in software
engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test engineering,
quality engineering, configuration/data management.
- Expert knowledge of systems engineering roles and functions,
including operations concept development, requirements management,
functional analysis, interface definition and control, synthesis,
and/or verification and validation.
- Experience in developing System Engineering Management Plans
(SEMP), specifications, ICDs, architecture, use cases, and other
ground CDRLs and artifacts.
- Knowledge of and support of various test milestones such as
Test Readiness Review (TRR), Factory or Site Acceptance Test
(FAT/SAT); Security milestones like Interim Authority to Test
(IATT), Authority to Operate (ATO); Ground sell off milestones like
Ground Completion Review (GCR).Preferred Education, Experience, &
Skills
- Any experience with any ground or mission integration including
operations readiness activities, rehearsals and launch support
activities preferred.
- Any experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and
Information Assurance (IA) in developing ground systems
preferred.
- Knowledge of ground hardware such as FEPs and Cryptos along
with various platforms or infrastructure to host ground systems
preferred.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies and
principles preferred.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Development
(CICD) principles and security requirements. Experience with
DevSecOps during program execution preferred.
- Experience in cloud development environment preferred.
- Experience with requirements management tool like DOORS
preferred.
- Experience with Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) and UML
diagrams (Class Diagrams, Sequence of Events Diagrams, and Activity
Diagrams) preferred.
- Experience with Atlassian Tools such as Confluence and Jira
preferred.
- Any experience in mission management, command & control,
mission data processing, ground terminal and infrastructure domains
preferred.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $154000 -
$194500Please note: This range is based on our market pay
structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a
variety of factors including, but not limited to: business
