Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.Professionals at all levels are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity. At the intermediate level, duties are less limited in scope and are performed independently with occasional guidance and direction from other professionals. Work at the senior level is performed fully independently. Work at the principal level is performed at an advanced or expert level. Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.Nature of WorkInformation Science Professionals utilize applied or computational mathematical analyses for a wide array of different applications and to solve complex problems. Experiments may include text interpretation, coding, ground theory methodology for the analysis of certain data, and quantum state analyses. Information Science Professionals may also perform duties in labs that use primarily electronic equipment. Duties include helping to design and set up x-ray imaging systems, conduct imaging experiments, programming for data analysis, and assisting with drafting papers, posters, and grants.Examples of Duties PerformedAll Levels:
      • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders in the area of radiotherapy physics and data analysis
      • Perform scientifically rigorous data management and analyses
      • Develop and disseminate a variety of tools designed to access relevant clinical and sample data
      • Creatively and effectively integrate data from multiple sources to accelerate discoveries
      • Write custom scripts to analyze dataIntermediate Level, all the above and:
        • Independently and creatively identify radiotherapy physics and data management solutions
        • Assist Team Leads, Supervisors and/or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives
        • Assist and train junior team membersSenior Level, all the above and:
          • Assist with developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) . Maintains subject level documentation and prepares documents, equipment and/or supplies
          • Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and shares results with leadership
          • provide the biostatistical/data science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of biomedical investigators and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines
          • Serve as a resource to PIs and other stakeholdersPrincipal Level, all the above and:
            • Oversee and provide informal leadership to the team members, including managing day-to-day priorities, evaluating and redistributing workloads on a temporary basis, and mentoring staff
            • Provide input and feedback to leadership on team members' overall performance, performance evaluations, opportunities for development, and process improvement initiatives
