continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the

Financial Officer provides leadership and oversight of the
financial management and accounting functions for the organization
in conjunction with the President & CEO and the Board of Directors.
The role oversees and directs budgeting, audit, tax-related
reporting, accounting, federal grant financial compliance,
purchasing, and long-range forecasting for organization. The
Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks an experienced nonprofit
and financial leader as Chief Financial Officer of one of our
nation’s most effective providers of housing, health and other
services for unhoused individuals and families. Areas of focus for
the CFO position include: Serving on the Coalition’s Executive
Team, as a key advisor to the President & CEO, Board and staff, and
as a passionate ambassador of the Coalition’s mission. Developing
effective strategies and identifying opportunities to maximize
organizational impact that supports the mission of the Coalition.
Providing effective stewardship of the Coalition’s resources
through operational excellence and efficiency. Leading and managing
the Finance Department with 35 staff positions and functional
responsibility for budget, accounting, audit, payroll, investments
and banking, revenue cycle, grant and property accounting, and
financial reporting. Advising the CEO, Executive Team, and Board on
strategies related to organizational financial health, risk
management and financial forecasting important to the Coalition and
its mission. Additional Requirement Valid driver’s license
required. This requirement may be waived, if necessary, based on
overall candidate experience and current needs of the business.

month following your date of hire. Essential Job Functions Assists
the President & CEO and Executive Team in the development of
short-term and long-range goals, objectives and strategies of CCH
and its related entities. Implements action plans to fulfill
operations-related goals, objectives and strategies. Oversees,
monitors and assesses organizational performance against both the
annual budget and organization’s long-term strategy. Develops tools
and systems to provide critical financial and operational
information to the President & CEO and make actionable
recommendations on both strategy and operations. Ensures timely and
accurate financial reporting to the Executive Team and Board.
Engages the Board Finance Committee with financial reports and
information on issues, trends, and changes in the financial
environment, revenue and expenses. Supports financial reporting,
budget and audit review to the Board. Ensures financial planning
for the Coalition’s assets and liabilities, meeting financial
compliance, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (i.e.
auditors, investment advisors). Oversees the finance department to
ensure proper maintenance of all systems and functions; manage and
coach senior finance staff and lead and support Finance Department.
Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial
procedures. Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of
financial and management reporting for federal and state funders,
foundations, and nonprofit’s board of directors; oversee the
preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial
statements. Coordinates audits and proper filing of tax returns.
Ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial
functions. Monitors compliance with debt covenants, lender
relations, and project financing. Provides financial information
and support to Executive Team, CCH Property Management Department,
administration and program directors to facilitate their financial
accountability for their areas or programs. Performs all other
duties, projects and activities as assigned by the President & CEO.
Qualifications Summary Advanced understanding of financial systems,
accounting and reporting. Demonstrated management of financial
functions. Organizational and administrative skill necessary to
ensure smooth operational support of programs and services.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with
highly diverse stakeholder groups and individuals in a team
environment. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate across
departments and on behalf of organizational interests in a variety
of contexts whether written, one-on-one or large gatherings.
Excellent management, supervisory and coaching skills. Ability to
lead team building and provide active team support. Ability to
navigate ambiguity and change while proactively driving our mission
forward. Ability to apply strategic thinking, systems analysis and
understanding of complexity to all aspects of the work. Proficient
in database and accounting computer application systems. Education
and Experience Bachelor's Degree in a field of study related to
finance, accounting, economics or related field. CPA or advanced
degree welcomed. Minimum experience of ten years in organizational
finance. Minimum experience of seven years managing financial
functions. Experience with a healthcare, housing development or
non-profit organization setting preferred. WHERE A CANDIDATE IS
